How to Check Laptop Display Connector

An EliteMacx86 Exclusive Guide - This guide covers checking of Laptop Display connector.

Overview


The Display connector on the Laptop is important as it controls the display and affect functioning of QE/CI.
Earlier, the eDP port were used. Now, the LVDS and Display port are used.

There are two ways to find out the connector on a Laptop which have been described below.

Using Windows


This method needs a copy of Windows installed with the Intel HD Graphics driver.

1. Open Intel HD Graphics Control Panel
2. Click on Options and Support
3. From the drop down menu, select the display, i.e "Built-in Display"
4. In the Connector Type, you can see the type. For e.g. LVDS
5. The other information such as Serial no., Resolution etc. are displayed.

Using Linux


You can either use an already installed copy of any Linux distribution, or use a Live CD. How to create a Live CD is described in this guide

1. Fire up Terminal
2. Enter

xradr --listmonitors
3. You'll get a list of current active monitors. The last column shows which Display connector is used, as shown in this screenshot:
